Laboratory Technician

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our experienced civil engineering laboratory team based in Napier. The laboratory services Higgins construction projects, manufacturing facilities, product development teams and external bodies.

**What you will be doing**

In this role reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will provide testing and technical support services for various Higgins sites. Our testing laboratory is responsible for ensuring Higgins products such as bitumen, aggregates, soils, and hot mix asphalt are tested as part of our manufacturing and construction activities. This role will include both field and laboratory-based sampling and testing of construction materials.

This is a full-time permanent role; hours of work are Monday-Friday 7.30am-4.00 pm. You may be required to work additional hours depending on business requirements.

**What you’ll bring**
- Tertiary diploma or equivalent in science or engineering
- Sound working knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality processes and understanding of ISO 17025
- Good computer skills and competent in the use of MS Office suite
- The ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Strong personal organisation and multi-tasking skills as is the ability to handle normal workloads with mínimal supervision.
- A Class 1 driver’s license is required
