**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Te Awakura (Adult Inpatient Group) is a 64-bed adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24-hour care to consumers experiencing acute mental illness. Our model of care primarily focuses on integrated multidisciplinary teams who strive to provide excellent care to tāngata whaiora in the least restrictive manner.

South and North Inpatient provides services to consumers in their corresponding community areas of Christchurch, we work closely with our outpatient team and other community services. We are made up of passionate clinicians who work in the patients’ best interests at all times. We have a supportive team culture and encourage opportunities for growth and development.

**Pehea | About You**

In this professional and clinical leadership role, you will effectively contribute to the ongoing development of nursing practice and the professional nursing workforce within the service. This role has a function that is both clinical and operational, therefore you will have excellent clinical credibility as well as an ability to ensure the operational objectives are carried out in line with the Canterbury DHB vision.

As a positive role model, you will be working collaboratively with the Charge Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Associate Charge Nurse Managers and nursing staff to promote a high standard of consistent, professional nursing practice that is contemporary, and consumer focused. Along with your proven ability to lead, you will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practice, assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement and providing overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the team that will enable them to continue to deliver a high standard of care.

In order to be successful in this role, the following is required:

- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope
- Extensive experience working within mental health, minimum of 3 years, specifically recent acute inpatient services
- Have a relevant post graduate qualification, or be on the pathway to securing one
- Possess a depth of clinical nursing knowledge and leadership ability
- Self-motivated, flexible and solutions-focused
- Be an excellent communicator and a natural people person
- Impeccable time-management skills and process driven
- The ability to work autonomously and within a team
