Hamilton, New Zealand Plunket Full time

Evidence shows that by investing in supporting whānau antenatally and in the early years of life to create an environment which enables tamariki to grow, develop and be nurtured is key to supporting their lifelong physical, mental and emotional health. In line with this, we play an integral part in creating lifelong, and intergenerational wellbeing.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

You will have a manage the _Te Kūiti _area case load from when whānau are discharged from their midwife (or other LMC) through to their final check which takes place around 3 years old. Imagine, literally watching your community grow before your eyes

Working alongside another Registered Nurse, Community Karitāne, with many community groups established, you’ll hold clinics, and conduct home visits around the _Te Kūiti _area.

Plunket Nurses go far beyond weighing babies. Our scope of practice and duty of care means that assessing the development of our clients and the clinical aspects in our top to toe physical assessments co-exists with exploring the wider environment pēpi is in. This might involve exposure to family harm, substance addiction and deprivation. Raising tamariki for those who have great support are well resourced and excited to welcome a new addition, while rewarding, is demanding, at Whānau Āwhina Plunket, we walk alongside caregivers across Aotearoa from all backgrounds, including those who are experiencing difficult periods or other issues which make their load more complex. The change and impact we make might not be fast, but is certainly fulfilling when we are able to make a difference.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

Gaining and maintaining trust with our whānau is perhaps the most important aspect of this role. Having the people skills to form connections with parents and caregivers is key to this position. You will come to us with exceptional clinical skills, which will be tested daily as you conduct assessments on from 4 weeks through to 3 years.

Where we connect with clients with multiple needs, there will be a number of referrals to be written and sent, so a level of computer literacy is required for the role. Having an understanding of the _Te Kūiti_ area will be advantageous.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer**

It is a big job, and being a charity means that our benefits may not be monetary, but are focused on supporting your wellbeing:

- Various wellbeing schemes such as a wellbeing day: use your one of your sick leave days to proactively protect your well being
- Retail discounts
- Monday - Friday role with flexible working arrangements where possible.
- Programmes to build your cultural competence so you can contribute to our goals most effectively

**_ Our registered nurse salaries are between $62,911 ($31.84 per hour) and $90,099 ($45.60 per hour) depending on experience_**

**Ngā pūkenga motuhake | The must haves**
- Hold eligibility to work in Aotearoa.
- Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate
- Hold a full clean NZ Drivers Licence
- Be committed to completing Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki ora (we will pay for this)

**Me pēhea te tuku tono | How to apply**

**He huanui oranga mo ngā mokopuna whakatipuranga roto i ngā hapori heke iho, heke iho -**

**Setting the path of wellness in our communities for the early years, for generations to come**

We have committed to adopting a pro-equity approach where we give life to the Treaty principles of tino rangatiratanga, partnership, active protection, equity and options in our mahi/work to ensure healthy tamariki, confident whānau and connected communities.
