A number of full-time positions have become available for Fisheries Deck Hands to serve on a medium sized trawler vessel for 12 months.
Normal deckhand duties also including the deployment and setting of the trawler net, handling and unloading of the catch, cleaning of the vessel deck and cabins retrieval wire splicing and net mending skills are highly desirable.. Awareness of seabird mitigation measures and management. **Experience as a fisheries deckhand of at least six months is required for these positions.**
If you have a NZ Deckhand Qualifications ADH-F or equivalent that would be a definite advantage.
Some of our fishing trips last up to 8 days.
The workplace and living areas are confined.
We operate the vessels on a strictly no violence, no abuse, and no aggressive behavior basis.
Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications on the traditional % of catch share system with a base rate of $29.15 per hour - with a minimum of 42 hours per week on most occasions at sea.
Must be very physically fit, as there is some heavy lifting involved.
You must agree to both our random drug testing program and a limited criminal police clearance process.
Expected start date 27 Dec 2024
Pay: From $29.15 per hour
Expected hours: 42 per week

- Tauranga, Bay of Plenty: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
