**Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role**

An exciting opportunity exists for a new Mātanga Tapuhi Nurse Practitioner (NP) position in the Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic (KAMC) Team. This clinic based role improves access to primary care level healthcare with access to urgent healthcare, including after hours for the Porirua area patient population. The Mātanga Tapuhi NP manages clinical caseloads autonomously and in collaborative with other health professionals.

This requires a flexible approach, to provide direct care and treatment as well as support through clinical advice and education. The advanced practice role is integral to the provision and ongoing development of high-quality patient care - that promotes optimal experience and equitable outcomes for patients and their whānau.

The Mātanga Tapuhi role importantly encompasses clinical leadership both clinically and professionally as part of an advanced nursing workforce, including providing education to the current nursing team. The NP with senior medical staff will have supervisory responsibilities with an NP Intern position that will also be new to the KAMC team. As a nurse leader, the role influences health service delivery and also includes auditing and policy development.

The Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic is an accredited 24 hour Urgent Care Clinic situated at Kenepuru Hospital. We provide care to those who require urgent medical treatment and are unable to see their own GP. The team consists of Urgent Care Physicians and trainees, local GPs and Registered Nurses. The department sees approximately 36,000 presentations per year from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

**Moū ' About you**

The person in this role will
- Be registered as a Mātanga Tapuhi NP with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Have experience of urgent care, emergency medicine and or primary care practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
- A strong patient care focus and able to deliver high quality of care for patients and whānau
- A passion for ongoing learning and development and the ability to share, support and develop others.
- Comprehensive knowledge informs NZ Health System understanding including equity issues, professional leadership and emerging issues for the nursing profession
