Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role The Lead Adviser - Education is responsible for providing policy leadership on the multi-faceted area of education and training to deliver advice and policy positions that guide New Zealand's international development cooperation in the education and training sectors. This is an important role that requires coordination with partners in New Zealand, the Pacific and globally to promote high-quality and equitable learning pathways from early years through to tertiary education. This role will provide leadership and direction to the other education advisers in the unit, as well as provide technical support internally to sector and bilateral teams.
The Education, Equity and Inclusion team cover policy and issues relating to education, gender, child and youth well-being and human rights for New Zealand’s International Development Cooperation. The Pacific region is a priority focus for engagement and investment in these sectors. The education work of the team contributes to ensuring that people have the skills, knowledge and values they need to thrive in a changing world.
The appointment range for this role is $149,712 to $ 190,376 - total remuneration including employer contribution to Kiwisaver.
Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? - Who are we looking for?We are looking for an experienced Senior or Principal education adviser with proven experience leading strategic and/or policy development and project management. Knowledge of the education sector is essential with experience in Pacific and international development strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills are critical for this role with an ability to achieve results through collaboration with a diverse range of colleagues and partners.

**We'd particularly like to hear about your**:

- Experience working in an international context and a sound understanding of development issues and practice
- Proven experience developing strategies and initiatives that are well founded, technically sound, practical and appropriate
- Experience working in project or programme management and delivering results through effective project management
- Expertise with Pacific regional education policies, frameworks and relevant organisation
