**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Are you finishing your degree this year or a recent graduate eager to make a meaningful impact on the sustainability of Auckland? We are seeking a highly organised and self-motivated graduate with strong environmental knowledge to join our Environmental Services team. This is a unique opportunity for you to gain experience and support teams across portfolios such as the natural environment, sustainability education, and community climate action, delivering positive outcomes for the natural environment and climate change.

Throughout the programme you'll get the opportunity to contribute to specific workstreams and tasks, engaging in innovative projects contributing to different team’s key areas such as:

- **Natural Environment Specialist Services**: Design and provide advice on natural environment programmes and inform the delivery of priority biodiversity outcomes.
- **Natural Environment Delivery**:Coordinate, support and deliver effective and strategic conservation projects with the community, council partners, Department of Conservation, and mana whenua so that the biodiversity of Tāmaki Makaurau is flourishing and treasured.
- **Education & Community Climate Action**: Work collaboratively to empower people to collectively create a regenerative, sustainable Auckland and ensure Aucklanders understand climate change and are taking effective action to reduce emissions.
- **Environmental Services Portfolio**: Assist with project management and business improvement, providing guidance, support and take lead on several department-wide technical portfolios.

You’ll have the opportunity to engage in diverse projects ranging from aiding Kauri dieback research to pest eradication, from spearheading school and community initiatives to facilitating learning for young people. Additionally, you may contribute to the development of tools aimed at efficiently capturing and disseminating information, among many other impactful activities.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for a graduate who is detail-oriented, with a knack for problem-solving and strong analytical skills. You will have great written and verbal communication skills and feel comfortable with presenting and conveying often complex messages in a simple way. Additionally, you will demonstrate your leadership and interpersonal skills by collaborating effectively within different teams and be happy to take the lead in tasks/projects.
