Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Commercial & Institutional Performance (Services) team within the Financial & Commercial Group. In this role, you will head up one of our three entity performance teams, which have a shared objective of enhancing performance across the wide range of Crown-owned entities and companies in the Finance Portfolio. You will lead a team that is responsible for a portfolio of Crown companies and entities across a range of sectors, including in Banking & Financial Services, Education Tech, Communications, and Science sectors. You will be an active member of the directorate Senior Leadership Team and will report through to the Director, Commercial Infrastructure and Urban Growth.

Recent changes in the Financial & Commercial Group have brought together our entity performance functions to create a 'centre of entity performance expertise', to build off and strengthen our platform to deliver Treasury's entity performance role. As manager you will have the opportunity to shape how we achieve this ambition and work as part of a collaborative management team, with the two other Commercial & Institutional Performance managers and our Governance & Appointments manager, to implement these recent changes and set the teams up for ongoing success.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Ensuring your team develops and delivers effective advice that informs and influences government decisions to enhance performance and value of our Crown companies and entities for New Zealanders
- Providing sound intellectual and people leadership, including development to lift capability
- Building effective and enduring relationships with senior government and Crown entity stakeholders, including Ministers, Chairs, Boards and Chief Executives in often ambiguous and challenging situations
- Influencing effectively decision makers at the highest level whilst connecting issues and being aware of changing environments
- Working as part of a collaborative management team, with the other two Commercial & Institutional Performance managers and our Governance & Appointments manager, to deliver our focus for a strengthened centre of entity performance expertise.

- Strong commercial experience including a deep understanding of key drivers of business performance and value
- A strategic leader who can see the big picture and execute accordingly and inspire others with a vision and creates a path to success
- Authentic, inclusive and passionate leader with a proven ability to develop talent and enhance team performance
- Self-starter with initiative who can bring a unique perspective, insight and fresh ideas that drive outcomes
- Exceptional relationship management skills and credibility to engage with and influence senior decision makers
- Resilient with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changeable and ambiguous environment
- Experience in focus on innovating and improving how we do things.
