Hikitia, the mental health and addiction service for tāne in Waikeria and Tongariro Prisons, and Spring Hill Corrections Facility will be the first of its kind in Aotearoa. Hikitia is a key enabler of Ara Poutama Aotearoa's Hōkai Rangi strategy and, as well as providing services to tāne in the Central Region, will include a 100-bed purpose-built residential facility (Te Wai o Pure) at Waikeria Prison in the Waikato.
Hikitia was developed in partnership through a co-design process with Mana Whenua - Ahi Kā and Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Waikato (formerly Waikato DHB). This included the development of the Mana Whenua - Ahi Kā Foundation Document and a comprehensive Implementation Plan.

Ngā kawenga | About the role
The Hikitia Technical Writer is responsible for the writing, editing and standardising of Hikitia related documentation.
The Hikitia Technical Writer will be grounded in Te Ao Māori or be able and willing to build knowledge and understanding of Tikanga and Te Ao Maori to ensure it informs your work and co-design practice; you will support the team to ensure the service delivers on the vision, mission, purpose, relationships, principles, and service approach as described in the Mana Whenua Ahi Kā - Foundation Document. To enable tāne to achieve oranga, the leadership within Hikitia must embody the Mana Whenua - Ahi Kā principles.

**The role accountabilities include but are not limited to**:

- Establish and maintain effective key relationships across the department, Hikitia partners and key external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate behaviours in alignment with the Mana Whenua - Ahi Kā values, tikanga and kawa and seek support and guidance to ensure these are upheld.
- Standardise and format business process, systems reports and documentation;
- Ensure the technical and accuracy and standardised consistency of written publications and documentation;
- Review and revise draft business reports and documentation recommending revisions in clarity, style, content, format, terminology, grammar and punctuation;
- Edit and standardise requirements and business documentation and material prepared by other Department staff;
- Maintain records and files of work and revise material for publication;
- Revise technical or specialised policy and procedures and translate complex IT manuals and policy into easily read text;
- Research and interpret government legislation to assist with business policy and documentation;
- Ensure systems are accurate to track revisions, approvals and future programmes of upgrade/ changes required;
- Compile, code, categorise, calculate or audit information, data or documentation;
- Monitors and reviews information from IT systems documentation to detect or assess format or material inconsistencies.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term position, there is the opportunity for extension. This role is a flexible working role, however you will be required to work from Waikeria Prison 2 days a week.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $76,550 and the full range (85%-120%) is $66,411 - $93,756. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
