Starship Children’s Health has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced social worker to work alongside children and their families in a health environment and become part of the dedicated social work team at Starship Children’s Health.The Paediatric Social Work team cover inpatients and outpatients at Starship and also have a key role at Te Puaruruhau, the Auckland Regional Child Protection team, providing services to the wider Auckland region and supporting the national services at Starship Hospital.
Starship's **Paediatric Intensive Care Unit** is a busy 32 bedded high functioning unit which:
- Covers all clinical specialties (except burns) and provides both cardiac and general ICU care and ECMO, CVVH, HFOV
- Responsible for flight retrieval for patients nationally and across the South Pacific Islands
- Is the centre of excellence for all PICU based research

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
The successful applicant will:
- The capacity to initiate, support and contribute to enhanced service delivery, including the capacity to ‘think outside the box’ in order to solve complex problems
- Experience in child protection & family violence work is essential, particularly within a health environment and/or an ability to adapt to new working environments
- Experience of grief and loss work
- Awareness and capacity to work effectively with multiple ethnicity and cultures
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- You will have a Social Work qualification recognised by the Social Work Registration Board in New Zealand
- SWRB registration and a current APC
