With such an ambitious goal, you might ask yourself - how does this opportunity help support a better, cleaner NZ?

**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role**

We’re on the hunt for a Lead Engineer, Onshore Wind to help us pursue this ambitious investment programme. The scope of this exciting permanent position is broad. You’ll be a senior member of the project team responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight for onshore wind projects ensuring projects are delivered safely, on-time, within scope and budget, and in accordance with the Owners Technical Requirements. You will manage all engineering specific activities related to scoping and design management, through to procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Essentially you will be responsible for engineering activities that reside across two key phases: Development and Execution. You will sit in the Major Projects Group, reporting into the Project Director, James Byrd but will initially be seconded into our Development Group during the development phase - this will ensure a smooth handover of the project when it comes time to execute. During the secondment, you will report to our Head of Wind & Solar, Matthew Cleland.

Whilst in the Development Group you will develop the project requirements leading up to FID, ensuring the Engineering Scope is defined and delivered per Industry Best Practice. "You'll be responsible for engineering strategy, planning, scheduling, and delivery of engineering specific scopes to meet project objectives."

Post FID, you’ll transition back to your home base, the Major Projects Group. You’ll work closely with the Major Projects Group Functional Heads (i.e., HSWE, Project Controls, Engineering, Contracts & Procurement, Construction & Commissioning) and other business groups to ensure the project is effectively and efficiently delivered within the parameters of the business case. You’ll oversee all engineering execution and delivery, all while strengthening our capability for future projects.

**Qualifications**:
**Ko wai koe | About you**

To really succeed in this role you will have a track record of exceptional foresight - always planning for the ‘what if’. Your communication skills and ability to work across many engineering disciplines comes as second nature to you. You lead from the front and inspire and mentor others to help support internal capability.

Ideally, you’ll have 10+ years’ experience in a Senior Engineering role within the renewable energy industry and a degree in engineering.

You’ll oversee all multi-disciplined engineering activities associated with procurement and delivery of the project from development through to the operations phase and responsible for managing technical compliance matters.

We are looking for a breadth and depth of skills in this role but in particular, we are interested in hearing about your experience in:

- Front-end planning and execution
- Managing the production of Owner’s Technical Requirements and specifications
- Governance and Compliance in large complex renewable Projects
- Driving collaboration and efficiencies across a wider network of stakeholders (more on this below)
- Oversight and management of design review processes
- Leading with a Health, Safety and Wellbeing attitude

This role collaborates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; employees, iwi, consultants, and contractors to name a few. You’ll be a ‘people person’, good at building trust and having open and honest conversations. You’re able to influence, and you pride yourself on your communication style and your ability to take people on a journey - even if it gets rocky from time to time.

Location wise, we’re open to where you’re live, however Wellington is our preference as that is where our Development team are based. You'll need to be available to travel on a regular basis (approximately 25-50% depending on where you live).
