The Whakapapa whānau are a small but ambitious team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area. In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola. Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding region, some even third or fourth generation.

Our Events Team is looking for a casual timer. This role is essential to facilitate our race events at Whakapapa.

Our Events Timer will help to co-ordinate, manage and time multiple events over the course of a winter, from small, low profile events to national races. You will ensure a smooth and safe delivery and help to re-establish our events calendar to pre Covid levels.

If experience suited, this would be a supervisory role.

Key responsibilities include:?
- Lead the setup up, maintenance and tear down of the timing equipment
- Assist with the planning and preparation of all events run and/or hosted by Whakapapa.
- Assist/Lead/Manage execution of the on-the-day event activities.

- Experience in and knowledge of facilitating events, with ski and snowboard events (especially race but inclusive of freestyle events as an organiser and/or a competitor) being an advantageous.
- Experience in coordinating and supervising staff.
- Strong mathematic skills.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure, particularly based on weather and safety issues.
