For our people. For our communities. For each other.

We're on a journey to become a District with strong and sustainable community partnerships, that embraces the diversity of the area and is bold in its vision for change.

**The opportunity**

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to start or enhance your planning career in a beautiful part of Aotearoa?

We're looking for a motivated, positive and confident individual to join our Resource Consents team working across the Western Bay of Plenty who can put their skills into action in the most rapidly growing region in New Zealand.

We are a District of urban townships and rural environments. A long coastal edge to the east bounded by the rising Kaimai Ranges to the west. Cornerstone industries like Kiwifruit and Avocado growing for export along with a myriad of rural activities.

We are looking to hear from applicants who have recently graduated with a relevant planning qualification or are at an intermediate planner level. You will be an organised, committed and self-disciplined team-player who has the ability to help people navigate the law and local government environment.

As a Tier 1 district this position provides opportunity for involvement in a wide range of significant urban and rural projects with innovative approaches. This Council strives to operate as a positive and solution-oriented partner in growth and management of the district.

**To set you up for success, you'll have**

Great communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to relate to a wide cross section of the community. You will have an appreciation of regulatory environments and conflict resolution, as well as the following:

- Qualifications and/or experience in regulatory processing under the Resource Management Act.
- The ability to understand and interpret plans and legal documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative to investigate and seek ideas and input.
- A focus on providing excellent, positive, facilitative and solution oriented approach to customers.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft suite of office products particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
- Full clean drivers licence.

**What we offer**
- A competitive employment package - including subsidised medical insurance.
- Five weeks annual leave.
- Flexible work arrangements and a pet friendly work environment.
- Free onsite parking.
- Sick leave on commencement of employment.
- Learning and development opportunities.
- Access to wellbeing resources and workplace support.
- Assistance to relocate to the area.

As part of our Regulatory Consents team, you will get plenty of variety and job satisfaction and support to be the best you can be. We're a Council of real people, just like you - and we're here to make a real difference. Step out of the city and into a mixed rural and urban environment.

**Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.**
