Lead Tutor

The Y has supported rangatahi (youth) for the past 148 years in Aotearoa/New Zealand and we’re looking for someone to join our trusted organisation.

Y Education offer programmes and services that make a real change in the lives of our Rangatahi and provides a wide range of learning opportunities to motivate them to academic achievement. We are looking for the next inspiring educator who is passionate and motivated to join our team in Palmerston North. Someone who is able to deliver high quality services with a YMCA values driven approach. The person we are looking for has the ability to change lives through learning and the ability to provide quality education.

To be successful in this role you need the following attributes:

- Excellent organisation, time management skills and/or experience in people management.
- Strict adherence to health and safety standards and procedures.
- Full driver’s licence and the ability to drive a manual is essential.
- High standard of professionalism and integrity.
- Unit standard 4098 and the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 or willing to study to achieve.
- First aid certificate or willing to obtain one.
- Understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi

Desirable:
*Experience working with and the ability to relate with rangatahi.

*An understanding of adult learning.

*Understanding of the Youth Guarantee.

*Ability to engage and motivate/inspire young people from diverse backgrounds.

*Knowledge and understanding of NZ education standards including NZQA and Moderation.

*Full driver’s licence and the ability to drive a manual is essential.

*Strong administration, communication and computer skills.
