**Tenei turanga - About the Role**:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Handyman to join our team. As a Handyman, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair and improvement tasks at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa (Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre). Your role will require a keen eye for detail and a commitment to completing all jobs to the highest standard.
Below provides a sample list of what to expect from the role. You will be responsible for a wide range of building facilities tasks and general handyman and housekeeping activities across Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa (Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre).
Minor repairs to furniture and wall linings.
- Minor repairs to door locks and door systems (closers / hinges / handles).
- Repairing damages to walls, including plastering and painting
- Hanging pictures and installing shelving.
- Carpentry work, including repairs to chairs, tables, shelving etc.
- Replacement of light bulbs / tubes.
- External work, including minor landscaping activities and treatments.
- Setting up conference and meeting rooms.
- Shifting and reconnecting PCs and other electrical equipment.
- Undertaking small furniture moves, desks / chairs / tables, etc.
- Basic plumbing work, unblocking sinks etc.
- General building / facilities maintenance.

- Good knowledge of building maintenance and repair work, developed over ideally at least 8-10 years of practical work experience, including the ability to operate and maintain any specialised tools as required.
- Ability to quickly establish and maintain strong working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including all agencies engaged at Te Ahuru Mowai o Aotearoa.
- Demonstrated adherence to safe work practices and procedures and the ability to instruct and monitor others in MBIE's health and safety practices.
- Good communication skills, including clear and concise written communication.
- Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, demonstrating judgment, initiative and the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Manage small to medium sized projects from start to finish, ensuring excellent attention to detail in every task.
- Maintain tools, equipment, storage areas, as well as expected to maintain a clean work environment.
- Physically fit with proven ability to be able to lift medium weights.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, specifications, plans and drawings.
- Good understanding and skills in the use of facilities management software and systems.
- Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff.
- Extensive relevant experience in building related trades.
- Required to drive and must hold a clean full current driver licence.
- Police vetting is required.
