The Hon Matt Doocey, Minister for ACC, Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Minister for Youth, Associate Minister of Health and Associate Minister of Transport, is seeking a motivated and engaging Press Secretary. Working in the heart of the government, you will join a tight knit and trusted team who will support the Minister as part of the 54th Parliament.

As the Press Secretary you will be responsible for supporting the Minister with the development and promotion of key strategies. The nature of this position requires you to both plan and prepare a story before it happens as well as create the narrative.

With a background in media, communications and/or public relations combined with a strong understanding of issues and initiatives of importance to the Minister and associated responsibilities delegated to them by the Prime Minister, you will be an integral part of the Minister’s team. Supporting the wider team is crucial in ensuring communications are clear, informative and timely. If you are comfortable working in an environment where no two days are the same, and you have the ability to adapt to new situations, learning information as you go, this role may be just the next career move you are looking for.

The position will require you to move seamlessly through a range of complex material, where an eye for detail and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences, through a number of channels is critical to success. Having a highly attuned awareness of the current media and political landscape, you will be confident in writing speeches and news releases.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Positively promote effective communications between the Minister, the ministerial and electorate offices, portfolio departments, and Crown entities, fostering a high level of collaboration and goodwill.
- Establish, monitor and continually improve the flow of information and documents to and from the Minister.
- Provide assistance and support to the Minister at briefings, meetings, conferences and other events as required.
- Assist in the management of oral questions in liaison with the Senior Private Secretary, Ministerial Advisor and portfolio department.
- Liaise with journalists in the parliamentary press gallery and in news organisations throughout the country and overseas, providing information, contacts or statements as appropriate.
- Work closely with the Minister’s Private Secretaries and other staff to ensure that duties undertaken are integrated into the work of the Minister’s office.
- Maintain continuing and effective liaison with the Prime Minister's Chief Press Secretary to ensure effort is coordinated between all staff responsible for media communications.

This is an events-based position based on a 3-year parliamentary term. Likely salary range between $100,081 to $117,015.
