Coromandel, New Zealand Moana New Zealand Full time

Location

Closing Date
- 23 June 2023
- Location: Coromandel Township
- Newly created role
- Reporting to National Farm Manager

Our story is about true connection, and we are here so people will always be able to share in the true taste and rare magic of New Zealand’s best seafood.

Our oysters are farmed in the pristine tidal waters of New Zealand and our Pacific oysters perfectly capture the freshness and vitality of the waters they are harvested from.

Due to ongoing growth and innovation across our farm aquaculture operations we have established a new Farm Technician role to provide analytical, research and data support to the National Farm Manager, and oyster farm operations in Coromandel.

**Key tasks**:

- Set-up a monitoring and data collection framework to measure and record:

- Oyster farm performance data; including growth rate and mortality rates
- Influences of husbandry practices (e.g., densities in baskets, grading, biofouling control, flipping)
- Environmental data driving/impacting oyster performance
- Analyse data, provide insights and advise on the growth trajectory and yield of oyster cohorts and input into production forecast.
- Manage oysters; both spat and broodstock, from Moana’s selective breeding program
- Implement a monitoring and continuous improvement programme to ensure experimental spat and broodstock are tracked and kept under best farming practices

This is a hybrid role that offers a combination of on-farm and office-based work.

**Make Your Mark**

You must be able to demonstrate you are a team player, reliable, respectful, and hard working. You will possess a great attitude, be easy to work with, and no job is to small or big for you to tackle and become the best at doing.

Degree qualified in science (aquaculture) or equivalent or qualified by experience you must have excellent statistical and analytical skills, a strong attention to detail and a high level of practical know how and common sense.

You will be able to effectively balance the hands-on practical nature of the role; out on the farm, learning all aspects of operations with the contrasting office-based responsibilities of running trials, collating and analysing data and building systems and reporting.

In return for your reliability and commitment we will reward you with a competitive wage rate and help you to achieve personal and professional growth and development. These positions are natural successors to a variety of technical and commercial roles across the business.

If you enjoy working outdoors, have an interest in learning about a leading aquaculture business and being part of transforming team, we would like to hear from you.

Come join our whanau.

**You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand to be eligible for this position.
