Senior Group Tax Advisor

**About the Role**

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager and sitting in the Finance team, this role acts as a strategic partner to the business, providing guidance and support locally and globally around all things tax. You will be aiming to simplify tax legislation and policy for our business managers and present clear advice and recommendations based on sound, commercial business knowledge and best practice.
- Act as a business partner providing tax advice and recommendations and supporting business strategies.
- Support the global tax compliance process, including working with local teams and advisors in overseas locations.
- Support with the group’s research & development tax incentive (RDTI) process, including working with key stakeholders within the business and external advisors.
- Prepare and review year-end tax calculations and tax note disclosures for the global group’s external financial reporting.
- Prepare and review direct and indirect New Zealand tax returns and disclosures.
- Supporting the transfer pricing position for the global group, including reviewing related-party transactions and preparation of relevant transfer pricing documentation
- Manage effective relationships with revenue authorities, auditors, tax industry groups and external advisors.

**About You**

You will be a motivated, self-starting, passionate person who has a strong desire to build a career within our Group Tax team.

Ideally, you have experience dealing with multiple stakeholders across different business areas and countries and you are motivated to share your knowledge. We are looking for someone that has a continuous improvement mindset, and someone that enjoys a challenge and solving complex problems.
- 6+ years of tax experience within a professional services firm or similar in-house function.
- Accounting or Law tertiary qualification
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing New Zealand income tax returns.
- Proficient in tax effect accounting and experience with tax software
- Commercial awareness and the ability to think outside of the box.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to deliver simple messages to the business.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads.

**It’s great, but not required to have**:

- Exposure to international tax or transfer pricing.
- Experience in a global organization
- Involvement in tax audits
- Participation in the tax policy process
