KiwiRail is one of New Zealand's most significant freight movers. We move over a third of our export goods across the country, using a wide range of services from temperature controlled, to containerised and bulk loads. Needless to say, we rely on our talented team to keep us running smoothly - and that's where you come in

You are provided with training and development on site to learn the skillset for the role and adapt a Zero Harm mindset. You will be trained to safely operate hoists and enable you to work in the full Container Terminal Operator capacity.

**Trainee Container Terminal Operators are responsible for**:

- Undertaking of introductory training and development in the fields of CT Operations and Health and Safety regulations.
- Containers/wagons checks to ensure twist locks and pins are in place, freight is contained, and setups completed.
- Ground and yard checks while complete forms and paperwork to comply with operating safety rules.
- Training to achieve certification to operate heavy machinery.

**Note**:This role is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week), based on a rotating roster operating 24/7 (Monday to Sunday, including public holidays), so flexibility is your key to success.

**To be successful in this role you need**:

- Current and valid Class 1 Licence, (Class 2 desirable but not essential)
- Willingness to obtain an F Endorsement (including OSH)
- Focus on zero harm and working safely at all times
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Team player who can build an inclusive culture
- Confident using computer programmes
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather
