Senior Venue Technician

Napier Municipal Theatre, one of the best provincial performing arts centres in the country, the theatre is an icon of Art Deco Napier and its stage has been graced with international acts and local performers alike.

As a Senior Venue Technician, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of technical services for our clients at the Napier Municipal Theatre. You will be supporting the Venue Technician Team Leader with providing estimated costs to the Production Manager, meeting with clients to discuss the technical requirements for their upcoming event, ensure that Health & Safety requirements are being met and ensure that all productions are delivered with exceptional technical service.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Support the Venue Technician Team Leader with providing an estimate of costs to the event/production manager for the hire of additional external equipment and casual staff requirements, as required
- Pre-set lighting based on the supplied lighting plan prior to the arrival of the production crew
- Ensure all of the venue technical equipment is accounted for and regularly maintained to the required safety standards. This includes the checking and tagging of all electrical equipment
- Ensure the Venue Technician Team Leader is informed when any equipment is required to be replaced, in particular the highly specialised technical gear
- Ensure both the electrical and gas meters are read prior to and at the conclusion of a hire. Install new equipment within the theatre in a manner that enhances the patrons experience and is in keeping of the style of the building

**To be considered for this role you will have**:

- ETNZ Level 4 Certificate in Entertainment and Event Technology or equivalen
- First Aid Certificate Level 1
- Site Safe Passport Plus - Height & Harness (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 8 years experience in the use of sound, lighting and audio/ visual equipment
- Sound knowledge of the “Guide to Safe Work Practices in NZ Theatre and Entertainment Industry”
- Proven experience and knowledge workings in a performing arts venue
