**The Central Interceptor is a wastewater tunnel that will run between the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grey Lynn. The 14.7-kilometre-long tunnel will run between 15 and 110 metres below ground. It will cross the Manukau Harbour at about 15 metres under the seabed. Along the route, it will connect to the existing wastewater network, which will divert flows and overflows into the tunnel.**

This position operates a Schöma locomotive during TBM excavation-tunnel maintenance and all tunnelling during excavation cycle in the Central Interceptor Project.

**What you will be doing**:

- Transporting supplies and spoil by operating a 20 Tonne (150 Tonne when fully loaded electric loco in a safe manner)
- Carrying out daily checks on the loco and reporting any identified problems
- Responsible for all train movements in the portal, along the tunnel and into the TBM
- Assisting the team with other tasks where needed such as labouring
- Experience operating locomotives such as trains or trucks driving to and from construction sites
- Full class 1 driver license
- Preferably have a New Zealand Certificate in Rail Operations (Train Driver) Level 4 with strands in Electric Multiple Unit and Locomotive
- Physically fit for working underground and comfortable working in confined spaces
- Willingness to upskill and help the team in other areas when needed
- Attention to detail to ensure the locos are operated in a safe manner
- Ability to work under pressure, follow instructions and work in a timely and efficient manner
- Flexible to work shift patterns which could include, day, night or weekends
- Construct Safe Level 1 is ideal but not essential - we will provide this training
