Christchurch City Council is changing the landscape of how libraries work with our community. We are a community of learning and we have something for everyone. **About the role -**
Te Pito Haurewa The Southbase Gallery is an exhibition space in Turanga, and you will continue the implementation of the exhibitions annual plan to engage Christchurch and contribute to the cultural life of the City.
- Working in small project teams with community exhibitors to develop exhibitions and related programme content
- Planning and writing texts for exhibitions, and contributing to exhibition layout and design
- Hands-on preparation, installation and pack down of exhibitions and displays
**About you -**
- Aptitude for **telling stories and interpreting ideas** for diverse audiences.
- Natural writer with ability to** develop informative and accessible exhibition texts.**:
- Stellar communicator**:confident and articulate** written and verbal communication with exhibition stakeholders and library customers.
- Familiarity with and respect for the kaitiakitanga of taonga and **museum conservation practices** - such as use conservation materials, condition reporting and documentation.
- ** Multi-faceted and practical** role: No two days the same, one day might be researching the our library collection, another up a ladder prepping the gallery space, another hosting a meeting with community exhibitors.
- A good **eye for design** and spacial layout, experience in use of graphic design software would be a definite advantage.
- Manakitanga - warmth and respect in relationship building with community groups including local iwi
**Additional information**:
- Hours of work_ - Permanent, Full time
- Salary_ - $57,613 - $74,597 per annum
- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Tūranga
