The Auckland Light Rail (ALR) is a critical investment to develop a modern, connected, high-capacity transport system in New Zealand's largest city and is one of the biggest infrastructure investments in Aotearoa. The Ministry has an important role to oversee a cross-agency work programme to support its delivery.

The Senior Policy Adviser provides policy advice to Ministers and project Sponsors on matters including delivery, operating and ownership arrangements, regulatory changes, integrating investment with the government's wider urban development activities, and strategic insights into the progress of the ALR programme.
This is a unique role where you will be given a significant opportunity to grow and progress your career while working on high-profile and interesting matters across the transport system that have a real impact on the lives of New Zealanders.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to.
- help develop how New Zealand delivers, owns and operates new transport infrastructure
- work closely with senior officials to develop and shape the delivery of policy issues working closely with other ministries, consultants and external stakeholders
- provide leadership on legislative implications of entity arrangements
- be exposed to the development, assurance and monitoring of key aspects of a major infrastructure project
- help assess the detailed business case for ALR
- draw links with other work across the Ministry to manage opportunities and risks for policy work on ALR

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
The salary range for the role is $100,976 - $123,414. The salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
