Nursery Technician - SCION

Full time position - 40 hours

Based in Rotorua

Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry and timber industry. We are a Crown Research Institute dedicated to forestry and are home to more than 300 staff on its two main campuses in Rotorua and Christchurch. Based in our Rotorua campus, this is a great opportunity for a keen horticulturist to join our Nursery team. If you have a positive, can-do attitude, an eye for detail, and a willingness to muck in and get your hands dirty, then this may be the job for you.

**You will need**:

- NZQF Level 5 or 6 or equivalent qualifications with / or relevant practical work experience in Horticulture (or related field).

**Other desired skills that will make you a great fit for this role include**:

- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with excellent work ethic.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work on different tasks, both outdoors and indoors, often in inclement conditions.
- Knowledge of horticultural principles and practices desirable but training will be provided for the right person.
- Certification in the use of equipment (including tractor and quad bike), and basic crop husbandry is highly desirable.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook products or equivalents is preferred, with training provided as necessary.
- Full NZ drivers license is preferred
