Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
As Principal Advisor you will provide leadership, analysis and high-level advice on key initiatives, projects and mahi within the Regulated Products team, with a particular emphasis on compliance pathways and compliant investigations. You will develop regulatory strategies including regulatory design thinking to support the team's stewardship of the sector, championing good regulatory practice for compliance and enforcement.
You will also prepare advice and updates to the Minister (via the Regulated Products Manager) as well as preparing guidelines to support the day-to-day operation of the Regulated Products Team.
In addition to your strategic role, you will also represent the Ministry within the broader regulatory context. This will involve liaising and collaborating with regulators from other jurisdictions, gaining valuable knowledge about international best practices, and effectively introducing them to benefit the healthcare landscape in New Zealand.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Proven experience in a policy and regulatory environment (strategic or operational) with preferably experience in the design and implementation of regulatory compliance.
- Excellent relationship management skills including the ability to foster and maintain collaboration between a wide range of diverse stakeholders including mentoring and supervising less experienced staff.
- Previous experience working in central government settings with a deep
- understanding of relevant legislation, public policy, and the machinery of government
