Tēnei tūranga - About the Role We have an opportunity for a Senior Business Advisor to work in the Office of the Deputy Secretary within MBIE’s Building, Resources and Markets Group. Working within a small team, you will gain in-depth exposure to a wide range of range of portfolios, work with stakeholders across the Group and organisation, and liaise with the Ministers' offices.

Your core responsibilities will include leading government accountability and reporting processes, ensuring the BRM Group continues to produce high quality accountability products. You may also lead a range of other business management and organisational development activities for the Group, such as risk management, business continuity, business planning and business improvement projects.

We are looking for a high performer with significant experience in a role where you were responsible for developing high quality reporting and accountability products following established processes. You will also bring strong relationship building skills, the ability to identify and alleviate risk, and a focus on continuous improvement.

- 5 years’ relevant experience working in the public sector
- A strong understanding of the machinery of government processes that underpin the operations of the public sector, such as Cabinet and parliamentary processes, accountability, and the performance, reporting and financial management processes and requirements.
- Experience contributing to or leading business management processes such as risk management, business continuity, induction, contract management and/or managing business improvement projects
- A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to respond to changing needs quickly and easily.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Building, Resources and Markets (BRM) is led by Deputy Secretary Paul Stock.

We are responsible for many of the regulatory systems that govern New Zealand’s markets including building, communications, competition, consumer and commercial, energy markets, financial markets, intellectual property, and petroleum and minerals. We are also responsible for the external facing New Zealand Government Procurement and Government Property Group.
