An insulation Assessor is responsible for assessing residential properties as part of the Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme. In this role, you will play a vital role in improving energy efficiency, comfort, and health outcomes for homeowners across New Zealand. Your primary objective will be to evaluate properties, identify insulation needs, and recommend suitable insulation measures to meet program requirements. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for promoting sustainable and affordable housing solutions.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of residential properties to determine eligibility for the Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme.
2. Evaluate existing insulation installations and assess their compliance with program standards and guidelines.
3. Perform detailed measurements, visual inspections, and diagnostic tests to assess insulation performance and identify areas for improvement.
4. Provide homeowners with clear and accurate information about the program, eligibility criteria, and the benefits of insulation.
6. Collaborate with homeowners to understand their specific needs and constraints, and recommend suitable insulation solutions accordingly.
7. Prepare detailed reports outlining assessment findings, insulation requirements, and recommended measures, ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
8. Coordinate with insulation installers to ensure smooth communication and efficient implementation of recommended insulation measures.
9. Provide guidance and support to homeowners regarding available funding options, subsidies, and additional energy efficiency initiatives.
10. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of program guidelines, industry standards, and best practices related to insulation and energy efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a similar role, such as insulation assessor, energy auditor, or home sustainability advisor, is not necessary, but is preferred.
2. In-depth knowledge of residential insulation systems, including different types of insulation materials, installation techniques, and performance characteristics.
3. Familiarity with the Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme and its eligibility criteria, guidelines, and standards.
4. Strong understanding of building science principles, energy efficiency practices, and relevant New Zealand building codes and regulations.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and effectively to homeowners.
6. Proficiency in conducting insulation assessments, including using specialized equipment and tools such as thermal cameras, moisture meters, and blower doors.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in assessing properties, documenting findings, and completing necessary paperwork.
8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple assessments simultaneously, and meet program deadlines.
9. Strong customer service skills, with a friendly and empathetic approach when dealing with homeowners.
10. Knowledge of available funding options, grants, and subsidies for energy efficiency upgrades is a plus.
