**The role and opportunity**

At AgResearch, our purpose is to use science to enhance the value, productivity, and profitability of New Zealand’s pastoral, agri-food, and agri-technology sector value chains to contribute to economic growth and beneficial environmental and social outcomes for New Zealand. We are committed to the knowledge system of mātauranga Māori on equal footing with Western science and existing structures, that have helped support positive change in farming practices and food production in Aotearoa.

We’re looking for an individual who will effectively deliver strategic and influential marketing communications for AgResearch. You are an excellent storyteller and communicator, primarily responsible for the development and execution of engaging marketing communications for multiple audiences across a range of platforms to create awareness of, and engagement with, AgResearch’s research, scientists, activities, and outcomes.

Specifically, you’ll help maximise the value of our web presence, recommend and execute novel social media campaigns, collaborate with people from across our organisation to develop and leverage key strategic events, and support stakeholder engagement including the development and creation of collateral.

These responsibilities include planning and managing communications strategies that include web content, some social media, as well as communications via traditional media and print campaigns.

**Your ideal background**

We are looking for an experienced senior communications and marketing person who:

- Develops and manages marketing and communications strategies to effectively build the AgResearch profile with industry, stakeholders, and the general public
- Is naturally curious - you love the challenge of identifying opportunities to initiate, recommend, and develop ideas into impactful marketing communications
- Is relationship focused - you relish working with a diverse range of people in order to build, maintain, and leverage relationships
- Thinks creatively about how to support stakeholder engagement and revenue development across AgResearch working alongside key members of our partnership teams
- Creates content, manages, and coordinates the copywriting, editing, and production
- Assists with the organisation of select strategic events to promote AgResearch science and research
- Works as a trusted advisor to tease out the information required in order to develop plain language, clear communications.

**About you**

You are a strong team player, creative thinker, and relationship builder with a strong sense of when to lead, when to collaborate, and when to serve.

You bring 5+ years’ experience in marketing and/or communications roles resulting in well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent writing skills, a good understanding of effective web and digital channels’ management, excellent organisational skills, plenty of enthusiasm, and a collegial approach to your mahi.

This role will suit someone with strong relationship skills combined with a high level of drive and achievement focus - someone who is energised by the chance to work with a Crown Research Institute that’s doing the science contributing to solving some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s biggest issues.
