We have a great opportunity for a Traction Field Engineer to join our Network Services team and be based at either our Palmerston North or Hamilton depot.

**Your role**
- In this role you will provide asset management, engineering, and technical support for our electric traction system between Palmerston North and Hamilton. This system includes overhead line equipment (OLE), control systems, substations and bonding.
- You will assist the STTE Manager and STTE Operations Managers in ensuring work is delivered effectively, on time, within budget and is carried out in accordance with relevant technical standards, codes, legislation and Health and Safety requirements. You will also develop, maintain and manage delivery of a work bank for capital renewals and upgrades.
- Ultimately you will be out covering the 400km this system spans carrying out inspections, audits and investigations on our OLE, substations and control systems checking for defects and ensuring code compliance.
- You will also assist with outages, faults, failures, and design for projects when required. Some travel and staying away overnight will be required.

**Your skills**
- Ideally, you will have NZ electrical registration and/or tertiary electrical engineer qualification plus traction system or overhead power transmission system (maintenance, construction, or design) experience
- You will have sound knowledge of electrical industry statutes, codes of practice, standards, and trade practices to undertake this role.
- A good understanding of occupational health and safety, risk management, project management or experience in effectively planning and managing work will be important.
- Your excellent communication skills face-to-face, on the telephone, over the radio, or in writing will be valued and you will be the type of person who appreciates the value of working as part of a team and taking action to contribute to the team’s success.
