Hocken Collections is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading research libraries with documentary heritage collections of national significance. We support the teaching, learning, and research needs of academics and students from the University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic as well as other academic, professional, and independent researchers who value the diverse nature and accessibility of our collections.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

The Liaison Curator Published and Special Collections is responsible for the development and provision a comprehensive and diverse programme of services and engagement with University of Otago staff, students, national and international users.

Reporting to the Head Curator Published and Special Collections, you will be instrumental in supporting them in collection building, description, housing and management of Hocken Published collections and the University of Otago Library’s Special Collections; as well as creating connections and synergies between the collections.

**_Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- Relevant undergraduate degree, postgraduate qualification in Library, Archives or Heritage studies; or equivalent knowledge rained through a combination of education, training and/or experience
- Demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience of working with Special Collections, heritage publications or rare books collections
- Experience in developing public engagement activities within the GLAMMIR sector
- Experience with range of digital technologies used for the provision of access to the collections

Working knowledge of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori are important for this role. You will also need to be an excellent communicator and problem solver, committed to excellence and professionalism.

**_Further details/Pūroko_**

This is a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent position. You will work standard business hours, though you will need to be available for weekend talks, evening events and projects as required from time to time.
