**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for University of Auckland graduates to join us on the 2024 programme and grow successful careers in technology.

The University of Auckland has one of the largest technology estates in New Zealand. Our scale and complexity offers graduates a chance to access skills, approaches, challenges, technologies and career pathways they simply wouldn’t get elsewhere.

Our 15-month rotational programme gives graduates the opportunity to explore different technical and non-technical areas and potential career paths, while acquiring a range of skills across different specialist areas. Rotation areas include:

- Software Development
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Digital Innovation and Experience - (design, UX/UI)
- Platform Engineering
- Performance and Modernisation (data analytics, automation)
- Information Security

As a Graduate, you will gain hands on experience, virtually from day one (after your induction, of course), growing your technical skills as well as those all-important soft skills, like communication, relationship building, workload management and more.

**The programme**

This programme begins with an induction, where graduates get to know all about the University, the programme, the people and (most importantly) each other. At the same time, graduates start to settle into their first rotation in the academy. The academy is a supportive practical learning environment, where graduates acquire core technical and soft skills, working on real projects with the guidance and coaching of technical specialists. Here, graduates form a delivery team, and follow agile methodologies to deliver technical solutions while developing skills in solution design, software development, testing, UX/UI, experiencing the full development lifecycle.

After their time in the academy, graduates begin three 3-month rotations in different areas of the digital services department. Rotations are arranged for each graduate, based on their career aspirations and interests, so each graduate will experience a different journey tailored to them. In each rotation, graduates will become embedded in a team where they will gain hands-on experience in that specialist area, supported by technical experts.

At the end of the programme, graduates will transition into junior level roles in an area that aligns with their career goals and department needs.

The programme includes a number of elements to accelerate and nurture each graduate’s development, including:

- A mentor
- A dedicated Early Career Experience Manager who supports the graduates throughout the programme (and beyond)
- Thursday Learning Lunches (a time to come together and learn from colleagues and technical experts, with a free lunch)
- Fortnightly reflective journal
- Regular career development workshops and coaching
- Skills training sessions
- Quarterly Professional Development Days
- Fun (there are a number of group activities arranged throughout the programme to enjoy each other’s company, have some fun and let off some steam)

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer**

This programme offers:

- A starting salary of $62,400 pa, with increases throughout the programme
- A supportive, yet flexible programme to develop technical, soft and employability skills that will serve you throughout your career, and tailored to your own career aspirations and interests
- The opportunity to work alongside and learn from forward-thinking leaders and professionals with a wealth of experience and expertise to share
