Consultant Psychiatrist - Child and Adolescent team
**Tauranga Mental Health and Addiction Services Employment Type**: Permanent - 1 FTE
He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our vibrant, innovative and friendly team. Working in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, we have the privilege of being able to develop innovative new ways of looking after our diverse population.
Tauranga and Whakatāne are ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play - beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, world-class schools, and a vibrant city culture. It is also a great base from which to explore New Zealand, Australia and Asia.
Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty's Maternal, Infant, Child, Adolescent Mental Health Service (MICAMHS) has a track record of innovation, clinical achievement, academic success and high performance. The MICAMHS service consists out of PIMHS (perinatal and infant (ages 0 - 5) mental health), a child team in Tauranga (ages 5 - 12), youth team in Tauranga (ages 13 - 18), Voyagers in Whakatāne (ages 0 - 18) and Incredible Years Specialist Services (IYSS).
Our Child Health Integrated Response pathway (CHIRP) is an integrated pathway for children with neurodevelopmental, mental health and behavioural concerns. We work alongside our Paediatric department, Child development team, School based Mental Health Teams and MICAMHS services to achieve shorter wait times, and collaborative assessments and interventions for young people referred with these concerns. CHIRP has been recognised internationally in the Improvement and Innovation space. In our other teams we are establishing a trauma informed care approach according to international guidelines.
If a rewarding clinical career in child and adolescent psychiatry is important to you then consider this your next step.
This is a new role in a great team. The child and adolescent psychiatrist appointed to this role will have the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Bay of Plenty and shape the future of local services. There is support for academic interests and a strong clinical community. If you like to work in a team that puts the young person and their family/whānau at the centre, and is collaborative, creative and collegial, please consider this your next job.
