Ashburton Hospital provides a range of Inpatient,
Day patient, Outpatient and Community based health services to the
community. The Hospital has 74 beds and annually admits around 5,000
patients, cares for 2,600 day patients and 15,000 patients attend outpatient
appointments.
Rural health services employ around 550 full time
and part time staff, which includes a clinical workforce in medicine, surgery
and gynaecology, supported by nursing and allied health professionals with
extensive experience in a wide range of clinical situations.
This role will involve providing Speech language
therapy inpatient and outpatient services to Ashburton and Rural Health
Service. You would be part of a small team of SLT's who work together to
provide a generalist service.
This is a 16 hour per week (0.4FTE) position with days
to be discussed at interview.

**The Role**: Where you fit in

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Providing comprehensive assessments,

evaluations and therapy in accordance with policies, procedures and
standards of practice for Speech Language Therapy.
- Educating and providing resources to patients
and their families/whanau/caregivers as well as to colleagues in the
interdisciplinary team.
- Liaising and co-ordinating with a wide variety
of community-based services
- Ensuring appropriate documentation and patient
records are updated and maintained.
- Contributing to quality service provision
within the community teams and wider Speech Language Therapy service. Your skills will include:

- Ability to complete thorough assessments and

be able to flexibly integrate interventions using problem solving and
robust communication whilst being led by your client's goals.
- Ability to use objective assessment tools
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary
team and communicate well with external agencies and community services
- Experience in working with patients with
significant comorbidities would also be an advantage.
- You will be registered with NZSTA.
