Ward B8 is a busy, acute ward caring for patients with neurological conditions including; brain tumours, head injuries, spinal tumours, movement disorders and seizures. As the largest inpatient neuroscience facility in the South Island it is a busy medical and surgical environment caring for a complex patient group with a diverse range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. This is an exciting opportunity as a Nurse Educator to support B8 which includes a Dedicated Education Unit and a Progressive Care Unit providing opportunities to expand nursing and observation skills.

As the Nurse Educator in this area you’ll provide both clinical coaching and nursing leadership in clinical practice, act as a resource for new staff orientating to the area and provide educational opportunities for staff within the Neurosurgery/Neurology Service. You’ll lead nursing education and promote nursing research and evidence based nursing practice within the specialty in collaboration with the Nursing Director, Charge Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist.

If you are a Registered Nurse with extensive, recent clinical experience and a passion for Neurosurgery/Neurology and hold, or working towards, a certificate in adult teaching and/or a post graduate qualification, we would love to hear from you.
- Stakeholder engagement is key, so you will require strong interpersonal skills and a positive approach to influence the team.
- You will promote excellence and enhance nursing practice to develop knowledge and skills for nursing staff within the Neurosurgery/Neurology Service.
- You will be experienced working as a mentor or preceptor.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
