The role
You will be focused on growing specification by reducing the technical barriers, resolving design challenges, educating stakeholders, and developing the technical elements required to launch new products. With an eye for improvement, you will follow key building trends and look for opportunities.
You'll be part of IKO Metal's NPD team, also working alongside their Engineering, Technical, Sales & Marketing and installation teams (both in New Zealand and in their other markets); as well as with Architects, Architectural Designers, Councils, and Industry Bodies. You will also have frequent interactions with their global network of customers and shareholders.
The responsibilities of the role include the following:
- Staying across trends and developments in the industry e.g. H1, Green Building etc
- Preparing CAD drawings
- Writing product specifications
- Creating and maintaining installation manuals
- Ensuring that their website has the relevant information and is organised in a format that makes it easy to navigate
- Ownership of their architectural databases and specification tools
- Working with architects and developers to resolve design challenges / answer queries
- Developing content for CPD presentations with the potential to support the delivery of the presentations
About you:
- You may currently be working as an Architectural Technician or an Architectural Designer, and looking for a more technically focused / hands on practical role that will also provide you with experience working within a global manufacturing environment (ideally a qualification in an architecture related field with three to four years' experience)
- Have a passion and working style that lends to you working in an office environment and equally being out in the field on a construction site
- Is balanced and able to work autonomously to problem solve with a methodical and organised approach
- You'll be a proficient user of computer-aided design (CAD) draughting software packages along with MS Office
- You will have great design skills with the ability to interpret drawings and can turn technical jargon into easy-to-understand product information
- You'll have a great knowledge of architecture, building methods and materials and knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code
- You'll have a keen eye for detail; a confident communicator both written and verbal, who is able to build strong relationships with key business partners
