Respiratory Physician

**Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral** ( Formally MidCentral DHB )are looking for a **Respiratory Physician** to join our team based at Palmerston North Hospital providing specialist secondary care services to the MidCentral region. This position would be suitable for an experienced or a newly qualified specialist.

**About the position and service**

This is a new position and is **additional to two experienced Respiratory Physicians**. The Respiratory team also includes nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, sleep and respiratory laboratory technicians/ physiologists, and respiratory physiotherapists. The service provides comprehensive specialist outpatient and inpatient respiratory services, and primary health care support. Supporting services on site include radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology, and pathology laboratory. Cardiothoracic surgical services are provided in Wellington as the tertiary.

The position involves the provision of general respiratory inpatient and outpatient services including fibreoptic bronchoscopy, and reporting on sleep studies and respiratory lung function tests. Knowledge and ability to manage cystic fibrosis patients and any experience in the supervision of respiratory function laboratory is desirable.
- Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with specialist training / qualification in Respiratory Medicine, as well as having demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.

Our airport has recently been expanded, and there are multiple flights every day to and from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.
