Nurserypersons

**Due to the growth of the business, Manukaroha Limited, Trading as Exotica is searching for experienced Nurserypersons to be part of a rapidly growing family business based in Northland.**

**What will you do?**
- Maintaining nursery irrigation systems
- Planning the proper care, handling, and storage of imported seeds
- Utilising various techniques for propagation, transplanting, seedlings, rooted cuttings, budding and grafting.
- Ensuring ideal soil mixture, fertilising, watering, and light requirements for the plants
- Monitoring plans for healthy growth and weeds management and pest control
- Differentiate subtropical plants and identify their specific needs
- Accurate record-keeping of soil mixtures, plantings, treatments, losses and yields
- Providing advice to customers regarding the proper care for their plants
- Assisting with the packaging and shipping of the plants
- Safely transporting plants between sites, which may involve travelling throughout the North Island and the wider Auckland region

**What do you need?**
- NZ Certificate in Horticulture Production (Level 4) OR a minimum of 3 years of equivalent experience
- New Zealand Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a Forklift Operator Certificate and F endorsement ideal
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience caring for flowers and subtropical plants with commercial nurseries
- 2-4 years of experience with various plant propagation skills and techniques such as Marcot, grafting, air layering, cuttings, and seed growing
- A strong understanding of different Asian herbs
- Good understanding of pest control management
- Strong computer skills such as MS Word and Excel, an advantage
- Ability to lift plants and bags of soil up to 25 kg.

**What's in it for you?**
- Minimum hours of work are 35 hours per week, between Monday and Sunday, 7 am and 3 pm
- The pay range is between $29.66 and $35, depending on experience
