Role Purpose
Lead all manufacturing engineering and estimation, encompassing capital and process development projects, providing superior technical knowledge. Responsible for providing leadership, outstanding people skills and management to a team of Design Engineers. Responsible for job design concepts, estimation of these, shop manufacturing drawings, project managing job along with contractors and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. The role has full budgetary responsibility for the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
Key Accountabilities
Provision of Engineering Services:
- Design, prove, implement and maintain design systems to deliver product on time, to quality requirements and to cost
- Drive functional excellence of the engineering design team
- Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste
- Drive validation plans to ensure robust and comprehensive technical solutions
- Provide technical inputs to bids for new business and facilitate successful outcomes
- Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales
- Analyse and improve material usage through good designs
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
- Produce written reports on job progress
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
- Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
- Quoting and estimating submitted on time and to professional standard
- Track nominated weekly jobs performance financially
- Ensure department is profit driven and meets and exceeds budget expectations

**Administration & Personal Responsibility**
- Complete all required sign-offs or updates on work undertaken, ensuring accurate records, and schedules are maintained.
- Accurately record hours worked on time sheets and submit timesheets to meet deadlines daily
- Resource planning to ensure projects are completed within required timeframes, and to minimize downtime on major projects

**Leadership**
- Lead the Engineering Services team to ensure they are delivering to project outcomes.
- Review and provide regular objective performance feedback to project team members.
- Contribute to the identification of team members training needs and advise the General Manager regarding relevant training needs.
- Constructively address any performance deficits and advise the General Manager of any ongoing performance concerns as required.
- Project team deliver to project outcomes.

- Performance management concerns raised with Project Manager as soon as they arise.
**Client**
- Respond to customer enquiries in a courteous, timely and professional manner, adopting a customer service approach when dealing with clients.

- Maintain client confidentiality at all times and do not pass on any information about any BLM clients to any third party.
- Respond promptly to requests which may pose a safety risk for those on client sites.
