**The Company**:
Our client is a well-known food manufacturer with a fantastic reputation as an NZ Brand. Being an ever-growing business, they are currently in search of an experienced Packaging Technologist to join their motivated and passionate team based in Wellington. If you have a love for sweet treats and want to be involved in the process of making top quality food products, this is the role for you.
**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Factory Manager, this role plays a key part in supporting all aspects of packaging development, providing technical expertise and support to manufacturing, and working with customers and suppliers to deliver the latest evolutions of packaging to the consumer.
This role will define, scope, plan, and implement key projects to improve quality and reduce costs of product packaging as well as look to increase productivity and efficiency within the factory.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Careful evaluation of artwork process to ensure adherence to technical briefs
- Liaise with key contacts to ensure export labelling processes / requirements are met
- Ensure factory processes match customer specifications within the packaging area
- Drive & lead the business in sustainable packaging technologies
- SOP writing of packaging processes
- Coaching and training line staff in the use of & optimisation of packaging processes
- Scope & prepare business cases on opportunities that may improve manufacturing processes through packaging improvements
- Ensure any NPD roll outs have the appropriate risk assessments completed
- Create & maintain packaging standards
- Set supplier specification, tolerances & limits of adherence for supply
- Evaluate alternative sources of supply with procurement team
- Background in high-speed packaging, manufacturing, or FMCG environment
- Experience managing projects
- Knowledge of FMEA’s (in design and production process)
- Proven experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
- Full understanding of OEE concepts
- Ability to follow rules and procedures as well as offering improvement ideas
- Have the ability to adapt and respond to change
- Excellent attention to detail
- Contribute to control and HACCP plans
- Experience in designing experiments
