- Creative Arts and Industries (CAI) is a respected centre for creative research, teaching and practice at The University of Auckland. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented **Digital Technician** to work in our popular Design programme at New Zealand’s largest and best resourced University. You will be passionate about design, AR/VR, game development, and digital media (2D, 3D & video), through research, experimentation and iterative practice. You will be working alongside other Technicians in the faculty of Creative Arts and Industries Design programme within a hybrid technologies lab to assist researchers and students to produce a wide variety of projects.

Our Design programme offers a range of fabrication environments from traditional machinery to digital technologies and sensor environments, including; high-end gaming PC’s, VR and AR headsets, a motion-capture rig, maker space, gaming consoles, and more You will be comfortable learning new tools and techniques quickly and efficiently (including related software) and have the desire and confidence to share your knowledge with individuals and groups in the Design programme community of students, researchers and industry partners.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), **permanent** opportunity.
The remuneration is $56,600 - $70,600 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You will bring experience with 3D modelling/animation software such as Blender, Rhino, Fusion 360, 3DS Max, or Maya, and assist staff and students to; fix 3D models, designing objects, rendering, and preparing assets for game engines.

You will also:

- Have a qualification in a related and associated field including software design and/or development including gaming platforms, creative arts or engineering
- Gain A First aid certificate, which must be maintained at all times. Health and safety is an essential part of the role, so a proactive attitude towards ensuring a safe environment is vital.
- Keep up to date with relevant technologies and techniques to ensure the best possible solutions are made available to staff and students.
