Barbers Assistant

The Barber Yard in Lower Hutt is opening and currently recruiting for the role of full-time Barbers Assistants.

You must be able to hit the ground running and be confident and comfortable working in a busy barber shop environment.

In return for your skills, we offer a competitive salary from $25 to $35 per hour with training and development opportunities.

Must be available to work Monday to Sunday on a roster basis for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

- Cut, trim and style client’s hair/facial hair according to their instructions
- Ensuring that combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments are cleaned and sanitized after each use
- Take calls from clients and arrange appointments
- Clean up around the shop as needed, including sweeping and mopping floors, dusting shelves, and cleaning mirrors

Experience and skills required:

- NO qualification required
- Knowledge of current hairstyles and trends (buzz cut/fades/etc)
- Comfortable working in a team, and taking sole charge of the shop when required
- Ability to handle customers’ requests and complaints with confidence and respect
- Time management skills to complete client services in an efficient and timely manner
- Good communication skills

**Salary**: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
