Opportunity - s All About
Christchurch Hospital Play Specialist Service is a unique
service that is a vital part of our tamariki recovery.
As a Hospital Play Specialist your role would be working in
the Activity Room (a licensed hospital based Early childhood service) and
working in the paediatric wards which supports a diverse range of the
paediatric population with a variety of medical needs.
As a Hospital Play Specialist we use a strong psycho-social
and educational framework with the aim to establish rapport and strong trusting
relationships with the tamariki and whānau.
Through these relationships and play, the goal is to minimise the
psychological impact of the child while in hospital. Our role is to help
tamariki and rangatahi understand, cope with illness, regain confidence and
express their feelings. A huge part of this role is providing emotional support
through preparation and play aiming to improve the child - s ability to cope. You
will also be supporting the medical team and the child with comprehensive
procedural plans to ensure success with procedures and developing
self-efficacy.
Working with infants, children and young people, your
experience as a teacher will be invaluable to helping children during their
hospital stay.
We are looking preferably for an experienced
Registered Hospital Play Specialist to come join our fun team in a Permanent Part-time role however if you
are an experienced Registered Early Childhood Teacher and you have the skills
and attributes we are looking for then please apply.
