Apprentice Beekeeper

We are in need of anapprentice BeekeeperinAuckland. So no experience needed to do this job and training will be provided.

As an apprentice you will work closely with an experiencedbeekeeper. You will be required to work weekends and must have early morning starts. Hourly wage will depend on qualifications and experience. This is a full time role.

ROLE WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING.

Help Senior Beekeeper in
- Assembling beehives to desired specifications.
- Nuc building and management
- Inserting honeycombs and inducting wild swarms into prepared hives.
- Forcing bees from a hive using a smoke pot to inspect the hive and retrieve honey.
- Collecting honey and royal jelly.
- Destroying excess queen bee cells to prevent the division of a colony.
- Help in Pollination
- Scraping out hive parasites and removing vermin.
- Destroying diseased bee colonies.
- Cultivating queen bees for sale
- Arranging the sale of honey to local buyers.
- Splitting colonies.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Basic wood workingskills would be advantage
- Knowledge of plants and animal biology would be an advantage
- Ability to work in any weather
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Good organisational skills, initiative and ability to work without supervision

In return, we will offer the following

Wage rate: $27- $30per hour

Hours: Minimum 30 per week
