Who are we | Ko Te Taurapa Tūhono tēneiTe Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the New Zealand government's international business development agency. Our job is to support exporters in order to grow a productive, sustainable and inclusive economy. We work with a diverse range of innovative businesses, including food producers, Māori land trusts and iwi, tech start-ups, service providers, manufacturers and more.
We are proud to have started this journey, so the key focus of this role is to continuously build and deliver a programme to build our Te Ao Māori capability throughout NZTE for our people to:

- Grow Māori customers internationally for the good of Aotearoa NZ
- Grow all our customers internationally for the good of Aotearoa NZ
- Grow ourselves into better representatives for Aotearoa NZ

What you'll be doing | Te whakamahereBased within our Learning and Organisational Development team, you will lead the delivery of the Māori Capability framework and initiatives, playing an integral part in continuing to weave Te ao Māori into the fabric of our culture at Te Taurapa Tūhono, and across all levels within our ONE Global Team.
You'll be instrumental in building and developing our people's capabilities and confidence in how we do business through fit-for-purpose initiatives that provide insight, tools and practices to ensure we are able to deliver on our purpose through a Te Ao Māori lens. With your Māori know-how and know-who you will continue to implement our capability plan for all roles across our organisation, including delivering Te Reo and Tikanga Māori campaigns and engagement, whilst ensuring key outcomes are achieved.
The Pou Ahurea Māori / Māori Capability Lead role and the Learning and Organisational Development team sits within our People & Kōrako division (Kōrako being our organisation improvement programme), which consist of a diverse and inclusive workforce who are deeply committed to delivering an exceptional and impactful people experience, that allows our people to thrive and deliver on NZTE's purpose.
What you'll need to be successful | Ō PūkengaYou'll have a strong track record of successfully delivering and embedding Māori capability strategies and frameworks and enjoy operating at both strategic and operational levels. You're in your comfort zone when working autonomously, dealing in the grey, and making quality decisions. You will have strong connections within Te Ao Māori and well-established networks, and you'll easily inspire others where you'll take them along the journey as a storyteller understanding where people are at. You'll have strong facilitation skills and enjoy being a connector across an organisation, where you enjoy building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
You'll understand how a connected and collaborative people and capability team who offer a seamless level of support can ensure a business grows and thrives. You will be confident and credible, and comfortable building relationships across Te Taurapa Tūhono, both in person and remotely.
You'll also be someone who is passionate about Te Ao Māori and fully competent in Te Reo coupled with a Learning and Development background. You will understand what building capability looks like and how to build people's capabilities and confidence in how we do business, inspiring people as you bring them along the journey.
