**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We are looking for a NZ Registered **Social Worker **with proven clinical competence to join our Social Work team, based in **General Medicine** at **Auckland** **City Hospital**. The role is **Monday to Friday, Full Time.** General medicine is a diverse, fast-paced and challenging specialty. You deal with a wide range of social situations and patients; every day is different.

You will have the opportunity to sensitively assess a broad range of complex social situations and foster positive engagement with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. You will work together with your patients to strengthen their broader health and well-being.

As part of the Adult Allied Health team, your role will also include:

- Work collaboratively alongside medical, Nursing and allied Health colleagues. Valuing relationships and maintaining strong networks with all stakeholders
- Once you have completed a thorough orientation to your new role and become familiar with it, you will join the after-hours, on-site and on-call rosters
- Substantial training and support specific to after-hours work will be provided to the successful applicant

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
- Evidence of current registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Experience in health social work, grief and loss, vulnerable adults, child protection and family violence intervention
- Able to navigate complex dynamics as you hold the needs and best interests of the patient and whānau in view
- Strong cultural knowledge; capacity to work effectively in a bicultural hospital environment
- The service operates an after-hours, on-call service 7 days per week. Therefore, the ability to work outside of regular work hours, including weekends is required.

The remuneration for this position is covered by a collective agreement (PSA Allied, Public Health Scientific Technical MECA)

Salary Range (Depending on experience)**:Step 1 $58,513 - Step 9 $87,192**
