8 April 2024Our client is a global battery company, established in 19 countries, supported by 16 production sites, and has more than 4000 employees worldwide. They produce and market energies on a global scale: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and electricity. They have recently commenced work on a major project involving the construction of a large scale battery energy storage system in NZ's Northland region, and are urgently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor.

Reporting to the Site Manager, and remotely to the Project Manager, you will be actively involved with managing all HSE aspects of the project (including sustainability). You will also be responsible for managing contractors, subcontractors, and other third parties, ensuring effective coordination and communication resulting in on-site operations and activities that meet HSE requirements.

**Other key responsibilities in this role will include**:

- Performance monitoring and measurement, data analysis and evaluation of results, and reporting of suggestions for improvement
- Developing an emergency plan, assigning emergency roles to key personnel, providing training, coordinating emergency exercises, and maintaining records
- Managing employee health and maintaining occupational health records
- Conducting HSE inspections/audits and building/implementing a corrective action tracker
- Strictly implement the strict work permit approval system that covers, for example, below works, hot work, lifting operations, temporary electric work, working at height, confined spaces entry, etc.
- Hazard identification and task risk assessment

**You will ideally have the following**:

- Minimum 5 years HSE management experience in same or similar industry, including contractor management
- NEBOSH IGC, or similar certification
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Proficiency in basic computer systems (MS Office, Teams, Outlook, etc)
- Knowledge of local laws and regulations
- Excellent communication skills
