We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Recorder / Cable Location Cadet to join our team. We will provide the Asset Recorder / Cable Location Cadet with the appropriate education and experience to be able to provide a cable locating service and ensure assets are accurately recorded for future access.

**The main responsibilities of this role are**:

- Operation of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment;
- Undertaking site visits to locate, record, GPS and confirm new and existing Unison assets in a timely manner and legible format;
- Providing accurate information to other utilities, both internal and external, to assist with their design requirements, and prevent damage to Unison's assets;
- Providing assistance in the maintenance of accurate records and plans for Unison Networks distribution system; and

**The Asset Recorder / Cable Location Cadet is responsible to**:

- Site visit, locate and mark out Unison underground assets for the purpose of the eliminating damage and minimising the safety risks associated with inadvertent contact with live cables.
- Site visit, locate and record cable and other asset information (e.g. pole positions) to Unison's Network standard for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the network.
- Utilise a GPS or other data capture system for on-site data capture and a locator for cable tracing.
- Provide information and records when required by the Unison asset management group.
- Liaise with local authorities, asset owners and contractors, as required.
- Update and maintain Unison records, plans and databases to ensure accurate information for cable location, network planning, fault location and isolation, etc.
- Undertake electrical works and electrical fitting works both individually and as part of a team.

**To be successful in this position you will need**:

- Minimum four years secondary school, with NCEA passes (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Competent in report writing.
- Competent in Microsoft Applications.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Experience in using cable location equipment. (desirable).
- GIS software skills (desirable).
- Electrician or Electrical Fitter (desirable).
