This newly created position, based in Auckland, uniquely blends business, economics, science, innovation, ethics and sustainability. It would suit someone looking for a rare challenge who has some experience in all these facets and is looking for the next step in their career.

The position has arisen due to the growth of Southern Pastures Group’s business - a business that maintains a start-up culture creating new products and opening new markets. The primary focus of the role is to assist the Executive Chairman of the Southern Pastures Group across all business divisions with research, analysis, reporting and presentations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and analysing strategic planning and initiatives to increase growth.
- Reporting on daily farming operations, inventory control, FX and commodity positions as well as all other risk items.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the industry.
- Use finance valuation tools to analyse scenarios such as mergers, market entry or exits, acquisitions and divestments.
- Preparing reports and proposals for senior management, board of directors, investors, clients and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and standards.
- Negotiating and completing legal documentations
- Other duties as requested by the Executive Chairman or Directors from time-to-time.
- A tertiary qualification in at least one of Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering.
- Corporate Finance experience.
- Experience with wholesale dairy/ derivative sales and/or hedging.
- An understanding of the dairy industry globally along with an understanding of dairy/food processing, regulatory requirements and logistics.
- Management experience with accounting and finance exposure.
- Understanding of dairy farming and interest in issues relating to climate change, sustainability, soil science and biodiversity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics and Power BI is advantageous.
