**About the Role**
We are seeking a Lead Unity Developer. You'll be an excellent team player who understands the value and importance of well-designed architecture.
As Lead Unity Developer you'll be responsible for leading the technical development of innovative game and game-related experiences, from pre-production to release. The role requires exceptional technical expertise in game development, as well as strong leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of Game Developers. You'll be responsible for developing technical project plans, ensuring the timely delivery of milestones for the team, and collaborating with other leads to ensure the final product is fit for purpose. Additionally, you will be a source of technical expertise for other Developers on the team, providing guidance and assistance with regards to best practices in both Unity and general software development realms.
As a key member of the Development team, as Lead Unity Developer you'll be responsible for both hands-on development work as well as managing your team. This role requires a passion for both game development and leadership.

What will you be doing_**
- Lead the development of game and game-related projects from pre-production to release, ensuring the timely delivery of milestones and a high-quality final product from a technical stand-point. This includes owning, maintaining and being responsible for the project's overall architectural design.
- Manage the team of Developers assigned to the project, providing technical direction and guidance, feedback, and mentorship if needed to ensure team members are meeting performance goals and developing their skills.
- Participate in code reviews, design and architecture discussions and manage the project's version control strategy to ensure that the code is maintainable, scalable and suit for purpose with a high level of quality throughout the development process.
- Develop and oversee the creation of game mechanics, prototypes, development libraries and packages within a project team including integration of internal/external libraries and tools.
- Debug software in order to test for and fix errors as well as identify performance bottlenecks and make optimisations.
- Produce development and technical documentation as required for key systems and technical design decisions.
- Communicate effectively with team members, other departments, and upper management to provide progress updates and address any concerns or issues that arise.
- Represent the Technical team across other project disciplines such as Art, Design and QA to ensure cohesive cross-functional collaboration.
- Maintain a balance between hands-on development work and management responsibilities
- Work with senior leadership to review high level architectural design and decisions, evaluate performance of team members and identify/implement strategies for improving overall team efficiency, productivity, and job satisfaction, including fostering a positive work environment, recognising team members' contributions, and promoting professional development opportunities.
**Requirements**:
- 4+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on technical development and leadership.
- Multiplayer experience.
- Strong knowledge of game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
- In-depth knowledge of modern programming languages such as C# or C++.
- Experience with game development pipelines and tools, including version control systems such as Git.
- Experience working with multiple platforms such as PC, WebGL, and mobile devices.
- Experience leading and managing Development teams, including mentoring and coaching team members to achieve their best.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
