At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Investigation and Enforcement Team (IET) is responsible for investigation of potential breaches of the Medicines Act and enforcement actions, including prosecution and border control activities, of therapeutic products. The Team works with other teams within the Compliance Management Branch and Medsafe to provide an integrated approach to compliance activities.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that therapeutic goods that enter New Zealand are compliant with legislation based on technical, clinical and legislative knowledge. Your time will be divided between working at Customs Inspection Facilities and the Ministry's Office in Penrose. There is no scope to work from home.
You will
- provide advice and training to NZ Customs
- identify new trends in pharmaceutical crime
- respond to enquiries from the public about importing medicines
- provide technical advice to the IET
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- A tertiary qualification in pharmacy with an
- Annual Practicing Certificate (Pharmacist).
- Comprehensive knowledge of medicines, their use, and classification in NZ
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to importation of therapeutic products
- Excellent organisational skills along with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality
- High level of interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage relationships.
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to communicate complex and technical information in a clear and concise manner that can be understood by everyone
- Hold a full and valid NZ driver's licence
